Square Foot Gardening

This year I wanted to make a real attempt at having a garden. I’ve grown a few plants in the past, but nothing crazy, just some tomatoes in pots, and some squash in my flower bed. Over the winter and spring I researched Square Foot Gardening. The concept is quite simple, you build (or buy) a raised bed, split into square foot squares, and plant some veggies or fruits!

Hubs built my bed for me out of some 2×8’s. It took him all of 10 minutes. He lined it with some weed fabric, filled it with potting soil, and I planted my little baby plants. The night I bought them, we had an awful hail storm, and I thought the babies were goners. I only managed to lose the pumpkin plant though, which I ended up finally replacing last week.

Here’s my little square foot garden in all it’s glory…isn’t it so cute?

Here’s everything I have planted: Cherry tomato, regular Big Boy tomato, burpless cucumber, pickling cucumber, jalapeno, red bell pepper, yellow bell pepper, green bell pepper, yellow summer squash, green zucchini, cantaloupe, & pumpkin.

Great resources for info on Square Foot Gardening:

Amazon also has books all about it. I recommend this one:

I’ll post some updates once I actually get a harvest (that is, IF I get a harvest)!!

New Core Colors – Daffodil Delight & Early Espresso

Here are the last of the new Core Colors – Daffodil Delight and Early Espresso. I really like Daffodil Delight- yellow is one of my favorite colors. This color is more saturated than So Saffron, but not as glaringly bright as Yo Yo Yellow (which is retiring!). Early Espresso is equally wonderful – a deeper, richer version of Chocolate Chip.

The sketch for this card came from the Stampin’ Connection site – a Stampin’ Up! site devoted to its demos.

All Supplies Stampin’ Up unless otherwise noted:
Stamps – Teeny Tiny Wishes
Colors -Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso
Paper – Naturals White cardstock, Greenhouse Gala Designer Series Paper
Accessories –  Stamp-a-majig, Scallop Oval Frame Big Shot die (not SU! Exclusive), Beautiful Wings Big Shot Embosslit

New Core Colors – Cherry Cobbler & Cajun Craze

This card features two of Stampin’ Up!’s new Core Colors – Cherry Cobbler and Cajun Craze. Both are sooo pretty. I especially love Cherry Cobbler, which is a deep dark red. Cajun Craze is more a darker version of Really Rust (which is retiring at the end of the month).

Colors -Cherry Cobbler, Cajun Craze, Whisper White
Accessories – Pretties Kit (retiring), Stamp-a-majig

Happy Father’s Day!

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there!

Here’s a pic of me and my dad when I was about 2 years old. Every summer we would go to a local carnival, and this is us on the carousel. My dad passed away when I was 14.

Here’s a card I made for my Father-in-law using the Fox and Friends set. I love that little monkey- he’s just too cute! I cut all the monkeys out so that I could intertwine their tails.

All Supplies Stampin’ Up unless otherwise noted:
Stamps – Fox & Friends, Rustic Alpha by CTMH
Colors -Tangerine Tango, Pacific Point (returning In Colors!)
Accessories – Tangerine Tango striped Grosgrain Ribbon (retired), Pacific Point corduroy buttons (retired), Large Oval punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Test post :-)

I’m making this test post from my Droid. I spent over an hour last night removing a stupid malware program from my pc, so I wanted to check and see how posting works from my phone in the event of my pc dying again.

In case you ever have issues with malware or viruses, be sure to check out GeekPolice. I followed their instructions, and so far so good. I hope the malware is gone for good now.

We now return to your regularly scheduled programming! Hopefully tonight or tomorrow I’ll have some craftiness posted for ya’ll!

Thanks for hanging in there with me!

New Core Colors!

Since I spent the last week featuring Stampin’ Up!’s new In Colors, I figured I’d spend the next few posts featuring our new Core Colors! There are 5 brand new, never before seen Core Colors – Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, and Marina Mist.

Today’s feature is Marina Mist, a gorgeous light blue. It’s darker than Bashful Blue, but not as dark or bright as Pacific Point. Add some glitter, and it just sparkles!

All Supplies Stampin’ Up unless otherwise noted:
Stamps – Elements of Style
Colors -Marina Mist, Whisper White
Accessories – Whisper White Tafetta Ribbon, Stamp-a-majig, Dazzling Diamonds
