June Calendar with MDS

This is probably my favorite page from my 2010 calendar I made with My Digital Studio. All the details on how I made this with MDS can be found here

On a side note, us Stampin’ Up! Demos get our New Catalog Sneak Peek tomorrow! I can’t wait to see what new goodies are going to be available! The Last Chance Lists for retiring stamps and accessories will be posted tomorrow as well. I’m curious to see how many sets in my collection will retire! I’ll have my actual catalog later in the week, to see all the goods!

Stay tuned for some sneak peeks!!

Goodbye, goodbye

There’s only a little over a month left to the current Stampin’ Up! catalog. Not only will we be saying goodbye to LOTS of colors, but we’ll also be saying goodbye to LOTS of stamp sets too (rumor is about 100, not including Hostess sets)! Not to mention all the ribbons and accessories!

I’m going to be posting some goodies made with retiring (or retired) products a little more often. I NEVER sell any of my retired stuff…I keep it all *cuz I know I’ll use it ONE DAY!

So here’s a card made with my very favorite Hostess set Kind and Caring Thoughts. I love this set sooo much. It has the best sentiments! This one also uses the soon to be retiring In Color – Crushed Curry. I’m a big yellow fan, and I’ll truly be sad to see this color go. On the bright side (pun intended!), we have a brand new yellow coming too – Daffodil Delight! Can’t wait to get my paws on it!

All Supplies Stampin’ Up unless otherwise noted:
Stamps – King and Caring Thoughts (Hostess), Teeny Tiny Wishes
Colors – Crushed Curry, Old Olive
Paper – Razzleberry Lemonade
Accessories – Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon, Stamp-a-majig, Brads

The pics are from the Nascar Nationwide Series race in 2009 at Richmond International Speedway.

Peonies abound

It’s been quite a while since I posted anything other than papercrafts here on my blog. Since I am *supercraftygirl* here’s something that’s not a card!

When I built my house 5 years ago, I knew I wanted to plant Peonies. My mother in law has the most beautiful ones, and she gets zillions of flowers each spring. I planted three plants about 4 years ago, and have only gotten like 5 flowers total out of them in those 4 years!

Well, this year must be the turning point (maybe all this rain we’ve been getting finally did some good!), because I have tons of flowers this year! Just out of nowhere, they’re all blooming. Now I want to get more to plant. Is there a such thing as white peonies?

The blooms are giant!

I love the reflection in the water drop on this one.

This one should be fully open in the next couple days!

I’m going to try to post more photography here more often 🙂  Enjoy!!

Technique Tuesday

Today we have another installment of Technique Tuesday.

One thing I love about my Big Shot is the embossing folders. These folders give such clear, deeply embossed lines. They make me want to pet my cards!

For this technique, which I call Debossed Sponging (is that even a real word??), you simply use an embossing folder to emboss your cardstock, then you flip it over, so the “puffy” side is on the back, and sponge away! With a light hand, the sponged ink will cover the background, and leave the debossed lines white (or, well, whatever color your cardstock happens to be)!

For this card I used the Manhatten Flower embossing folder, which is simply perfect for this technique. You can see the debossed lines showing through. Isn’t it such a pretty effect?

All Supplies Stampin’ Up unless otherwise noted:
Stamps – Thank You Kindly
Colors – Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White
Accessories – Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon, Stamp-a-majig, Lots of Tags Sizzlits dies, Vintage brads, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Manhatten Flower Big Shot Embossing Folder, sponges

Butterfly Birthday

I *really* love how this card turned out. I’m all about the simplicity – and the red stands out so well on the white! The ribbon just makes it perfect. 🙂

The Beautiful Wings embosslit is probably my most used Big Shot die! I hope Stampin’ Up! brings it back in the new catalog so that everyone else who missed out on ordering it can get it!

All Supplies Stampin’ Up unless otherwise noted:
Stamps – Teeny Tiny Wishes
Colors -Read Red, Whisper White
Accessories – 3/4″ Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon, Scallop Oval Punch, Medium Oval Punch, Beautiful Wings Embosslit, Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mommas out there!

Here’s the card I made for my own momma. My mother’s favorite color is blue, so I wanted to incorporate that into this card. I love the ribbon, which is from the Elementary Ribbon Originals pack. Of course I had to add some Dazzling Diamonds for added sparkle!

Just a note- when mailing cards with puffy things like ribbon or brads – be sure to add extra postage. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had cards returned to me because they were too thick. I now just put 2 stamps to be safe!

All Supplies Stampin’ Up unless otherwise noted:
Stamps – Spring Song, Well Scripted
Colors -Not Quite Navy, Pale Plum (retiring!), Naturals White, Old Olive
Accessories – Elementary Ribbon Originals, Stamp-a-majig, Aqua Painter, Dazzling Diamonds
