Wishing for sun

I’m not even going to bore you with more talk of snow, or the fact that we now have 40-50 mph winds to go with it. Ugh. Being the ever-optimistic person that I am (HA!)… Monday is March, so things will get better…right….right?

I picked up some more bright colors again to get out of this winter funk. What says sun better than Summer Sun?! Ahh, this card makes me feel the warm sun on my face! I have it here on my desk by my computer so I can look at it and think about something other than the snow and wind outside!

For the background, I rolled my Very Vintage wheel across the Summer Sun cardstock a couple times. I love this wheel, it makes the most beautiful backgrounds!

For the flowers, I stamped them onto Whisper White in Versamark ink, then used my pastels to sponge the colors onto them. I used Really Rust and Summer Sun on the big flowers, and just Summer Sun on the smaller flowers.

Is it Spring yet?

I’m pretty sure I can go the rest of my life without ever seeing snow again. The piles are still around…it’s been too cold for any of it to melt!

Here’s a nice colorful card to put me in the mood for Spring! I used the Sweet Pea Designer Series paper stack for this one. I looooove the paper included in the pack…it’s so pretty I really hate to cut it up!

This was a super simple card, I just selected three complementary polka dot sheets from the pack, and added some flowers from the Flower Fusion pack! Add a little sentiment and voila! Cute!

Snowpocolypse Part Deux

Well well well. Apparently the 29 inches of snow was enough for us, so on Tuesday the 9th, the wrath started all over again! This time was much worse – the winds were pretty high and there were white out conditions. Even major highways closed down!

Hubs had to go to work – here’s his truck in our driveway right when he got home — the snow is over the tires! He said in some places the snow was up to the side windows. Complete craziness!

This is the day after – We have a 4 foot high fence in our backyard…

We have birds that hang out in our backyard, so I put some seed and bread out for them. It took a while but finally got some takers:

The best part? They’re calling for MORE snow tomorrow. I’ve lived in MD & PA my entire life and I’ve never seen snow like this before! It’s broken all the records.

I”m off to try to stay warm…I’ll be posting some more cards and crochet projects this week! So stay tuned!

Snowpocolypse 2010

So, here we are, getting our second major snowstorm in five days. The Mid-Atlantic region simply isn’t equipped to handle this kind of snow fall!

These pics are from Saturday. I estimate we got about 29 inches here in South-Central PA. I haven’t even attempted to think about how much MORE we’re getting now, but some of the piles are over my shoulder.

Saturday’s snow at my thigh – about 29 inches:

The great wall of snow:

It’s still coming down pretty hard today, after starting yesterday afternoon. *Sigh* I’m soooo ready for Spring! I’ll try to get more pics if it ever slacks off!

The good thing about all this snow is that I’ve been stuck in the house, and I’ve gotten quite a few things crossed off my to do list. Here’s a card to share for today…I’m so over winter that I used all these nice bright springy colors!! After I cut the butterfly with my Big Shot, I embossed it using the new Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder from the Occasions Mini. I took a sanding block to rough up the dotted texture on the butterfly. This card makes me wish the sun was out right now!!
